Boss BR 600

I just bought the BR600. I've read the manual (difficult at best), but I can't figure how to record drum sounds from the drum pads on the machine. I have recorded several guitar tracks and I want to add some drum sounds. I have a track set to record and I can hear the drum sounds in the headphones. However, when I play back the tracks there's no drum sound.

Any suggestions?

Instead of creating rhythyms

Instead of creating rhythyms by hitting the pad buttons, it would be much simpler to create your own arrangements. Just listen to your song, hit the tap button to figure out the timing, and build your arrangement that way. Hit the Arrangement button, and then the Rhythym Edit button. Choose Step, and you can then build your arrangement each measure at a time. There are over 300 drum patterns, plus you can make your own. It's easier and quicker than tapping the drum pads, and will most likely sound better too. Plus you don't have to use any tracks because it uses the Rhythym fader, so you can still use up to eight tracks.

I have tried a few different things,but haven't been successful.Any body got any suggestions?

You need to bounce the drums

You need to bounce the drums to a track instead of simply recording it

Hi guys. I came across this

Hi guys. I came across this forum looking for pretty much the same info on br600 drum pads.
I wonder if any of you have a solution for this one;
I like to record guitar rhythm track first. I usually tap foot for rhythm. It's the core part. Then I go back and build over it. I've got the whole bouncing tracks part down.
Here's the problem. I start by laying down core part to say track 1. Now I want to play drum pads along to track 1. All I've been able to do so far is bounce drum pads to 7/8 with track 1 fader turned down low. Still need to hear track 1. It obviously bleeds onto 7/8 with drum pads.
For the life of me I can't figure out how to kill track 1 out of the mix and still monitor it while bouncing. I'm starting to think I can't. Am I missing something totally obvious. Anyone.
Any of you smart folks know or have a work around? BTW, I still love the heck out of this thing!

monitoring track 1 while bouncing drums

If I understand you correctly, you want to bounce just the drums? I'm not sure why, but okay. Anything you can hear will be bounced. When you enter bounce mode, all tracks with recorded stuff light up, right? If you want to bounce only one or two of them, simply turn down the volume on all tracks you don't want to bounce.

bouncing drum pads

I'll try and explain better.
First, if I could just record drum pad without bouncing I would. Here's why;
As I tried to explain, I start by playing a rhythm guitar track listening to metronome, tapping foot or drum machine. Basic core or idea.
Then I build tracks around it. Often core track gets dumped.
In order to play drum pads I have to listen to a track I may not even keep and even if I turn it down it still gets in final bounce mix with pads. I can write playing bass guitar only but that's not my preferred way to write.
I certainly could use an external recording device and click track to sync to achieve what I need. I was hoping for an internal way of monitoring a track without bouncing it tho.
Also, I'd prefer nothing on drum track except drums. I want it clean.
I import the wave files into pc and polish them there.
The drum track is the most important. I want to really saturate it with drums only and since I often work on the pc with br files apply separate efx to individual tracks.

I know, a bigger machine does all this. LOL. Just wondered if I was missing something obvious.
Cheers.

Hi there, with respect to

Hi there, with respect to bouncing the drum track to a track, how would i go about doing this?
Cheers

you have to select Bounce

you have to select Bounce with the Rec Mode button, then you can record drum beats, but this will also combine all your tracks to the 7/8 track...so its pretty lame, you cant put the drums on one single track, therefore you have to play it perfect the first time....and even then, you cant go back afterwards and change the drums....Sooo Lame!!

Solution to this irritating

Solution to this irritating issue: Record your song using "clean" drum rhythm. Bounce the song without drums (keep fader down, or with click track only), then export the result to computer.
Next up, start over with a new song, and practice drums to the song now playing from your computer. When ready, "play" the drums to your pre-recorded music while bouncing. If you miss, just start over. When ready, either import the song back onto BR600 and mix it with the freshly recorded drums, or export the drums to the computer as well, and use any home studio software application to mix it together. (I use the last solution)
