Pro Tools 001 It's finally becoming clear to me that it's the end of the line for my Pro Tools Digi001. The popular card and rack combination which got many ProTools users started on the ProTools ladder has been discontinued. The Digi001's future was already in doubt when Digi announced it was not compatible with the new Apple G5 due to its 5v PCI power requirements. Even tho mine is still working great, on a windows 98 machine to boot...no pun intended. I don't plan to upgrade until I have to. My policy is, if it ain't broke...don't upgrade it. In 2003 I bought a g4 and 001 pro tools 6.0 and ad on gear that I needed so i would have great studio. Within 3 months I was informed that i would no longer be supported and that I needed to upgrade 6000.00. Later I have loved the studio but would like to go to 7.0 but no go unless I pony up an onther 2000.0 for the latest just so you all know.
Digidesign did not sell as many 20000.00 unit when the 001 was being marketed hard so this is why pulled it and replaced it with 002 which was only half the interface. by the way the sales went up on 20000.00 unit after they did this!!!
