In the rock world there are certain rules that need to be followed. I've compiled a list of Rock and Roll rules here:

• Recording always takes longer than you expect
• Whenever possible, quote Spinal Tap
• Don't go to a gig wearing a t-shirt of the same band
• Don't bring your significant other to gigs, even if she says she "wants" to go
• Don't schedule your CD release party before you have your CD's in hand
• If you find yourself  saying "We can fix it later"...re-record it now
• When looking for members for your band, looks should not matter
• Don't ever go to a gig with your parents
• No rap metal
• Don't tell your significant other when you will be home from the studio
• Use the word "dude" as much as possible
• No matter of what style of music you play, if there is a keyboard solo...scratch it
• Don't take your friend's or family's word about your music (if your mom says she loves your songs...be concerned)
• If you're going to die, make sure it's an overdose or something that includes vomit
• Don't bring your significant other to the studio
• If the band you are in has uniforms or outfits...look for a new band
• Practice your heavy metal faces
• If a member of your band plays laptop or turntables...be concerned
• Don't name your band something that is too hard to spell or pronounce
• Don't include whistling or a kazoo on any song...ever
• Don't join a cover band
• Don't spell your band name wrong
• Don't wear makeup
• When someone in the crowd requests Freebird...don't actually play it
• Don't include cover songs on your CD
• Stay away from love songs
• Hairspray on guys is never cool
• If you hear the word "schtick" associated with your band...be concerned
• Don't make your band logo so complex that nobody can decipher what it is
• Don't wear spandex

Follow these rock and roll rules and you won't be laughed at by your rocker buddies.
