Software Plugins

Use a Test Machine when installing new software on your DAW

Todd Fugere's picture

The best thing to do when you have to install new software onto your DAW is to use a test machine. For instance, if you've downloaded plugins from the internet or you have new software to load, etc. It's best to test it out on a machine you don't care about, rather than crash your DAW with bad software. I just use an old pc that I have in the basement. Make sure this PC is up to date with updates and has the latest antivirus software installed. This way you can see how the software will act, if it's worth installing, or if it is virus free. I can't tell you how many times I've downloaded free plugins from the web and they are infected with a virus. The old saying goes, rather be safe than sorry especially when it comes to your precious DAW!

Importing drum patterns from BR-900CD Rhythm Editor to BR-600 issues!!! Pls Help

Smalls's picture

Hi guys, Please help, I have hunted the manuals & forums but cannot figure out my problem.

I have a very simple set up at home; computer, amp, guitar, BR-600 just to write & structure some songs for my band, I was getting sick of the pre set tracks and the velocity of the pads so I downloaded the BR-900CD Rhythm Editor which is awesome, However....

My problem is I cannot figure out how to get drum patterns into the BR-600 I can connect the two together via USB so they can 'see' each other but cannot get the drums from computer to BR-600 Here's what I did-

1) Allocated some space for a new song on BR600

2) Named it & saved it

3) Connected song to Editor (track name come up in Editor)

4) Wrote drums for entire song in Editor

5) Went to USB -> IMPORT -> S0001 (this was what I saved it as)

And that's about as far as it got, as BR600 just says "USB Connected Idling..." and it will just sit like that, if I could maybe save the drums as a WAV on my computer maybe that would help but there is no EXPORT function on Editor, do I have to play the drums from the editor and record it on the BR600?

Any help or suggestions would be amazing Thanks

Free Pro Tools Plugins

I sometimes read the Pro Tools user groups. I noticed they have a tab for plugins. I checked it out and there was some pretty good stuff there. If you haven't already go check out the plugins page. Pro Tools user groups is a great resource to help you on your journey.
