Yamaha FG 312 II GuitarBack when I was a kid, I must've been 12 or 13. My father gave me the best christmas present I've ever gotten. It was a an acoustic 12 string guitar, the Yamaha FG 312 II. I still have this guitar. I use it all the time, for gigging and recording. I play this instrument more than any other. It's funny now because when I look for information on this guitar evyerone is calling it "vintage." Am I that old? The Yamaha FG 312 II is a spruce top, with indian rosewood on the top and sides and a rosewood fret board and bridge. It has satin finish and gloss top. The sound is rich with harmonic overtones. Everyone who's heard it is really impressed with how great it sounds. I brought mine in to Hoffman Guitars in Minneapolis and they fixed all of my frets, lowered the action and put in a killer sounding L.R. Baggs I Beam pickup under the bridge. The Baggs pickup cost me almost $175. But it was well worth it, this thing really rocks now. After having the FG 312 II set up, it plays like a brand new instrument. I highly recommend taking your guitar to a professional to have it set up. Costs a little money, but it's worth it. The action is great, it stays in tune very well. Plays like a dream. I would recommend the Yamaha FG 312 II to anyone looking for a killer sounding 12 string acoustic. Great axe! p.s. Sorry about the horrible picture, it was tough to find one since the Yamaha FG 312 II is "vintage." ![]()
